Laboratoires Bailleul: The pioneer in the formulation of Cystine for hair

For over 70 years, Laboratoires Bailleul have been the forerunner in the management of hair loss thanks to the pioneering discovery of the properties of Cystine and its applications in dermatology by Jean Bailleul and Alphonse Bigou.

L-cystine is a sulfur amino acid, constituting a stable oxidized form of cysteine; it is an essential component of keratin playing a key role in hair growth.

The success of this stunning discoveries led Jean Bailleul and Alphonse Bigou to create Laboratoires Bailleul in 1949, focusing on their historical product: Cystine Bailleul.

Since then, Laboratoires Bailleul continued its scientific research in different therapeutic areas such as acne, alopecia, and psoriasis, and find out how Cystine can be beneficial for the treatment of these conditions.

In the mid-‘70s another blockbuster was developed by the Company: Cystine B6 Bailleul, a new and innovative formulation supplemented with Vitamin B6, which allows cystine to be incorporated into the hair follicle. Laboratoires Bailleul diversified its expertise and launched specialized cosmetics preventing or supporting the treatment of specific hair conditions.
